FLORIDA DANCE COUPLES  ENDEAVOR PRESENTS DANCE AS ART TO TEENS

Florida ballroom/tango dance teachers Dutch Van Schouten and his amateur partner Susan Kaznoski are finalists in PepsiCo’s $25,000 grant competition and awaiting votes from supporters for their grant proposal idea to win.

The Daytona Beach couple plans to distribute the grant money to benefit teens through a new year round ballroom dance program that features professional dance instruction, performance dancing and dance etiquette. If they are selected, the grant will supply scholarships for kids, as well as pay for instruction, community dance shows, insurance, transportation and facility rental.

Dutch is a long time dance instructor qualified in all ballroom dances and DVIDA’s Argentine tango syllabus. Susan, former school teacher and counselor and dedicated amateur ballroom dancer, wants to share her passion for dance with area teens. Their combined goal is to provide social, emotional, and mental health benefits to kids while providing a fun dance learning environment.  Classes will be taught four times a week at local high schools. The project also aims to bridge the “generation gap” through teaching teamwork, good manners and respect through partner dancing.

Pepsi is giving away over a million dollars each month to fund great ideas. Grant selection depends on number of votes each day during the month of November. Each person who registers is allowed to vote once each day in ten categories. To assist Dutch and Susan in obtaining their grant for the dance program, please sign in and vote every day this month on Pepsi’s “Refresh Everything” website: http://www.refresheverything.com/teachteensballroomdancing

This endeavor seeks to raise awareness, grow the dancers of tomorrow, and allow ballroom dancing and Argentine tango to continue as vibrant art forms within American culture.
